I have a little story for you. One day there was a new "spa" in town. In sleepy little North Smithfield our neighboring town. My sister Chris went to check it out. She tried to ask if they did manicures and such. They wouldn't let her in the door. They said "one hour massage." Chris tried to deny the obvious and asked what their hours were. They said it depends what time their last client is done. Chris accepted that this wasn't her kind of "spa" and left.
She told us about it and we all speculated about how there could be a "one hour massage" parlor in quiet little North Smithfield. We were talking about it at Firehouse Pizza (also in North Smithfield.) And we found out that some of the employees there had also heard about this questionable place.
We couldn't believe that people like Chris and I knew about this place and the cops didn't know. Chris and I aren't exactly the first people in town to know about those sorts of places.
Well the cops finally found out. Three people were arrested! Two people were arrested for "harboring prostitution" and one person was arrested for "pandering."
Crazy! In North Smithfield! I drive by this place twice a day!
Also crazy that the local detectives needed "members of the Pawtucket Police Special Squad" to assist in the investigation. I mean come on, Chris and I knew! What kind of an investigation did they need? Oh wait -the "special squad" must mean they send them in to "investigate" prostitution houses. That must be a crazy job. My new job is in Pawtucket...I wonder why they are the home of the "Special Squad." Oh wait--I don't want to know.
