Festival Day

Posted by Kate on Monday, October 11, 2004

On Sunday, Pat and I went to King Richard's Faire and the Autumnfest.

KRF was a lot of fun. We saw jousting on horseback, a flame-eating knife juggler, a "mud" show, and a wild animal show. The flame-eater was my favorite. He was really funny. The "mud" show was less interesting, as I am not that shocked by two grown men who like to play with dirt. Of course the fact that one of them drank a substantial amount of this "mud" leads us to think it is probably not mud at all. The wild animal show was cut short because it was raining, but we did get to see some extremely friendly animals - A wolf that wanted its belly scratched (as they told us how vicious they are), a mountain lion that purred for us, and some very friendly tigers.

We left because we were cold and wet from sitting in the rain. It was too bad about the weather because overall it was a really fun place. I was really surprised by the number of people who showed up in costumes. People really get into that renaissance stuff...

Later in the day (as of course the sun came out and it was beautiful once we were about 30 minutes away from KRF), we went to the Autumnfest. Pat bought me some cotton candy and we walked around a little. It was very crowded. They were going to have fireworks, but Pat and I didn't feel like waiting around for a couple hours before they would start, so we headed home.
