Posted by Patrick on Wednesday, September 15, 2004Tonight Kate and I put on The Simpsons, Season 1 on the ol DVD Player. (Thanks to sister-in-law Chris for hooking me up with that).
Some very funny stuff happens in the first season, and while the animation seems a little less refined compared with current episodes, it's focus on whit and sarcasm make it quality viewing, and necessary watching for any fan.
Be sure to check out The Simpsons Archive website, which containes ooodles and oodles of Simpsons knowledge. This site is handy for social situations when someone brings up an ultra-specific Simpsons reference or quote and you're like "Who is this Ralph Wiggum?" You can look it up and understand why Ralph is both a comic genius and a tragic figure at the same time.
