Flicks

Posted by Patrick on Monday, August 30, 2004

We recently checked out a couple of movies at Rockland-ave.com. One we saw while we were camping (see previous posting) because it was raining one morning and there was nothing better to do.

It was called Collateral, staring Jamie Foxx and a temporarilly grayed Tom Cruise. Jamie plays a city cab driver and Tom plays a hit-man who taxi-jacks Foxx while he cruises (get cruises. Sorry) around the city shooting whoever's on his list of shooties. It was a decent flick, with the usual lot of shooting and running and speeding that you'd expect. Cool to see Cruise play the baddie for once, although you really can't believe that he is bad.

Then this past weekend we checked out Garden State, staring that guy from Scrubs , and that girl from the newer Star Wars films. The guy plays this underwhelming actor from LA, who returns home to New Jersey for the funeral of his recently drowned parapalegic mother. He has to deal with the past he left behind, as well as his lithium induced youth.

Both are good movies, and if you happen to miss them, they're perfectly rentable.
