Name That Crab
Posted by Kate on Thursday, September 02, 2004Hi there, Pat and I have new additions to the Rockland Ave community to announce: Winkerkrabbes and Sesarma Bidens, otherwise known as Fiddler Crabs and Red Claw Crabs. We got two of each from PetsMart on Tuesday night.
And now we need names, so we decided to have a Rockland-Ave.com “Name that Crab” Contest. We need three names, as we have already named one of the Fiddlers “Hellboy” for obvious reasons.
So far the two Red Claw Crabs are pretty shy. One of them lives in the little mountain hideaway we provided for them. He acts more like a “hermit” than an aquatic crab...Sorry to stoop to weak “crab humor.”
The other Red Claw Crab scurries to the back of the tank when I go to feed them or take their photos.
The Fiddlers, on the other hand, are much more social. The yet unnamed Fiddler waves his big claw angrily at us from the front of the tank. He seems to be saying, “I deserve better wages, better hours, and more shrimp pellets.”
