Next Blog

So it all started with umbellate.blogspot.com... I was reading Erin's post when I noticed a button at the top of the screen, "next blog." Once I hit this button there was no going back. I am now addicted to reading the blogs of strangers.

Every day I feel the need to check whether Adrian's wife has joined AA yet, the antics of Bree's two little kids, whether Erin's little boy has said mama yet, and to see if Kris has finished his story about crossing the Canadian border.

People write very personal things in these blogs and give their full names and home towns. This doesn't seem like such a good idea to me, since you can't get much further from private than the internet. Growing up, I never wanted a diary that didn't have a lock. Nowadays people will write just about anything in a blog.

I haven't decided whether to comment on these sites yet. I mean if you are writing these things on the web, you must have to assume someone is reading it, right? I still can't get over the feeling I am reading someone's diary or someone's family letter.

On the other hand, I am dying to know who is reading our site. Pat and I get lots of web visitors every day and a bunch mark us as "favorites." Who are these people? If you don't know me but find this site interesting, I would love it if you left a comment!
