Pod
Posted by Patrick on Tuesday, October 19, 2004For months I debated over its purchase. On one hand, it's just an expensive toy, and I could burn all the cd's I want for far less cash. On the other hand, I'll only be alive once and should enjoy all the gadgets that society has to offer. I went back and forth like this in my mind for some time.
Well, after I read a post about it on Dennis' awholenotherstudio.com site, I was unable to resist. I decided to purchase an iPod. I bought it a couple of months ago (and never got around to posting about it). It's pretty darn amazing. It looks a like this:
It holds thousands of songs, all neatly catagorized by artist or album title. It has a rechargable batttery that lasts the entire work day. It connects with my car stereo. It's super easy to use, and the sound quality is excellent. It also comes with silly little games like Breakout.
I listen to it at work a lot, and I've found that I'm somewhat less likely to yak with people because of it. I've also found myself listening to albums I haven't in a long time, like Weezer's Pinkerton and some live Phish I downloaded and never got around to listening to.
I can even listen to local bands, like Pawn (who have changed their name to A Sudden Silence).
So, I'm very happy with the purchase. I got it refurbished from the Apple store for like 180 bucks, which was a good deal.
