Wednesday Thoughts

Our real estate agent is not being very attentive. Perhaps I will actually have to call her. Apparently she only works part-time, which I didn't realize when I chose her. She also isn't an expert in the area we have chosen. She knows a lot about the county next-door, but not the county we will most likely get a house in. I chose her because I hadn't settled on a county yet and I thought we would probably end up in the county that she lives and works in. Not so much. When I ask her about schools, crime, flooding, she tells me who I should call. Is this normal? Seems like a pretty easy job to just show people houses and if they have questions about the area tell them to call someone else and if they have questions about the house tell them it will show up in an inspection...

I didn't mind that she had only lived in NC for two years, having moved here from California because I thought she could give me the perspective of a newcomer and how to meet people. When I asked she said she met people at church. And that's all the information she gave me on that. She said her sister had moved out here with her, but that her sister was single and didn't meet anyone because she liked dancing and going to clubs but didn't want to go alone. And so the sister moved back to California.

So when I got home I looked up Unitarian Universalist churches. I decided to look into that kind of church because they are open to all beliefs and are very inclusive. I wouldn't want to join a group that discriminates against certain members of my family and a lot of my friends and acquaintances. It looks like the only Unitarian Universalist church is in Raleigh, which if we end up living where I think we will, it will take over 30 minutes to get there. Might be worth it to meet people.

Yes I haven't gotten a job yet. This is working in our favor because we are eligible for a really good loan program because we are under the income limit. To be a part of this loan program we have to go to a class from 9-3 and then some one-on-one counseling. I think it is for people who have trouble with money and credit. I am paranoid that they are going to find out that Pat and I are really good with money and have excellent credit and they are going to decide we can't take part in their program. Just one more thing to drive myself crazy over, right?

Anyone want to move down here and take over our lease when we get a house? No down payment and we have already paid the pet fee. It is a really big, really nice apartment. You know you want to...
