Twelve Total
Posted by Kate on Thursday, September 28, 2006So far we have been into twelve different houses. Today Pat and I went to check out the two-story that I posted all the photos of and another one.
This last one we looked at had the same exact floorplan as the house that I liked with the wet crawlspace. The only differences were the condition of the floors and walls, the strong smell of smoke, the big dogs next door, and the fact that the refrigerator was not staying. The house with the wet crawlspace was built in 2002 and looks brand new. This other house was built in 2000 and has people renting it. People who smoke. The carpets are in really bad shape. The walls need painting. The dogs barked at us the whole time we were there and a little boy about five years old came out and told us his dogs don't like next-door neighbors. Hmmm, bad sign? I think so.
It is really too bad because I love the floorplan, but water underneath the first one is bad and well all the reasons I listed about the second one are bad. That leaves us with the 2003 two-story. It is definitely in first place still.
It is supposed to rain tonight, so the plan is that tomorrow morning I am going to drive out to the two-story house and check out the crawlspace and all that flood-prone soil to make sure it is okay. The two-story also has a creek in the backyard, so I will be checking the water level in that too.
