Owl, or Omen?

At work today, there was an owl perched up on the second story window, on a metal brace in front of the window. This owl sat there, sleeping most of the day, occasionally spinning its head around to look at the white collars who were staring up at it from below, myself included.
So strange, this bird choosing to hang around my office building in the second largest city in New England. There's construction going on at an abandoned church across the street from the building, so folks believe the bird my have originally roosted there. Made me wonder, is it a sign of some kind? A mystical message in bird form?
