Posted by Patrick on Monday, February 07, 2005There is a driving force on the internet that dictates the rise and fall of major corporations and civilizations on our planet. Google is it, and if you wish to exist and make money and you're not on the first few pages of it's search, you are doomed. Most people are far too lazy and impatient to click through more than a few pages and they will never see you.
Rockland-ave.com has, in the last few years, been listed on the first few pages of Google.com when searching for the phrase Rockland Ave. But, we've never been the first one on the listing. That coveted first site, numero uno...the site you reach if you click the "I'm Feeling Lucky" button on Google's homepage. I have strived to code the site in a way that puts us in the top spot, but we've always been stuck at no higher than number four on the list. Right under some silly Mapquest driving direction links to Rockland Avenues in other parts of the world.
Many people would (rightfully) ask Who freaking cares about this?. Well, probably just me. Today I'll enjoy a moment of nerdish pride.

Google is always shuffling stuff around, so our top spot might not last...but we'll enjoy it for the moment.
