One Bag

Posted by Kate on Thursday, January 06, 2005

It is a quiet night here at Rockland Ave. Pat fell asleep in the butterfly chair, which looks incredibly uncomfortable. One time when he woke up I suggested he move to the couch, but he fell back asleep immediately, so his head is still doing the roll of those who sleep upright.

Zoe is running around with a clean q-tip that she found in the bathroom, but she is keeping quiet with it and not begging to play fetch, which she usually does when she finds new toys. Well as soon as I started typing this about her she came over and curled up next to me. She seems to have a sixth sense about these things. This isn't the first time that I have been writing about her in an email or blog, when she has stopped whatever she was doing and come over to see what I was typing about her.

Moses is sleeping on the new chair that we got from Urban Outfitters. This is his new favorite spot. He is such a little fluffball. He's so cute, unfortunately when we take pictures of him all you see is black. We have a funny video of him, that all you can see is his eyes and occasionally a very bright pink tongue emerges from the darkness.

I was lucky enough to have a "snow day" today. The owners of Rag & Bone were concerned that the roads would be in bad shape for our commute home, so I got a call at 7:30, suggesting that it was a good day for going back to bed, baking, or building a snowman. Have I mentioned how much I love my new job?

I just finished packing for my trip to Michigan tomorrow to visit my sister. I have everything crammed into my backpack. Yeah I like to travel light. Unfortunately, Kim forgot a sweater out here when she was visiting for Christmas, a large, bulky, woolen sweater that is taking up at least a third of my packing space. So bring another bag, you say? Nope. As anyone who has traveled with me or I have taken a plane to visit knows I am very proud of my ability to fit all of my belongings into one backpack. Obviously this is a little harder in the winter, when packing pants and sweaters as opposed to shorts and t-shirts, but one bag it is! Plus everytime I have brought a suitcase because we were traveling for a week, our luggage has been delayed for at least one leg of the trip.

So Michigan has even more snow than we have here. Why couldn't my sister live someplace a little warmer? It should be a fun trip, despite the cold. I haven't been to Kim and Anne's house in ages. I can't wait to see Scout and Casey, their dogs, and Geiser and Cutter, their cats, and on Sunday we are going to pick up a new kitten that they will be catsitting for awhile.

Well I have blogged on for long enough. Hope you all have a great weekend!
