Posted by Patrick on Sunday, January 30, 2005I'm walking/running on the treadmill at the gym this morning, reading a magazine. I see a person get on an Elliptical machine. I go back to reading my magazine. I see a second person get on the elliptical machine right next to the first person, except she starts walking backwards (which I assume strengthens some other muscles that walking forwards doesn't).
So the person on the left is walking forwards and the person on the right is walking backwards. It was kind of hypnotic, seeing these two people move in totally different directions, yet not move anywhere at all. Like the sound of one hand clapping, or something.
I would have fallen into a total and complete trance, had the woman on the right (walking backwards) not started singing in a very loud fashion. She was happy share her music with us. I couldn't tell what she was singing, but I assume it must have been from the Michael Jackson Thriller album, since it appears she was doing the Moonwalk.
