Thankfulness Square
Posted by Patrick on Wednesday, November 24, 2004Thanksgiving is upon us! Thanks to a cleverly placed vacation day on Monday, Kate and I have 5 days off in a row! Doing some family stuff tomorrow, then it's off to Vermont for a few days, then back for some more Thanksgiving related family stuff on Sunday.
I'm also thankful that the construction on Route 290 has ended for the season, and I can once again go to and from work without having to drive through Kelley Square. How that place can be allowed to exist is beyond my comprehension.
This site has illustrations of Worcester from the early 1900's. Here's a photo of Kelley Square from that era (called Vernon Square then).
It looks nothing like that now. Imagine like a thousand more cars, and lots of people using creative hand signals to navigate their way through.
So, be thankful you're not standing in the middle of Kelley Square, and be thankful for anything that's good in your life now.
