Together again
Posted by Kate on Friday, May 12, 2006My laptop and I have been reunited! Many thanks to Pat's diligent efforts for saving her and bringing her back to life. She may have a new brain, but it will be just like old times in no time. I had considered getting a new laptop, but really this laptop has everything I want in a laptop and it just didn't make sense to replace her.
Pat and I are thinking about unplugging our tv for the summer. I tend to get into the bad habit of leaving it on from dinner till bed. And I always get sucked into super-violent cop shows and then I end up having dreams where I help people hide bodies or nearly strangle people to death. I haven't murdered in a dream yet, but I don't want to head down that road, so me and the tv are on a break.
In other dream news, I have started keeping a dream journal. I was reading in Reader's Digest about how each individual is really the best judge of what their own dreams mean. The article also said that in sleep studies they have shown that the parts of the brain that deal with emotion are completely active during dreaming while the frontal lobe which is responsible for logic is not active at all. Which explains why there is really crazy stuff happening in dreams that seems to make sense (like when a little boy turned into Zoe, for example.)
The first dream I wrote down was full of meaning to me, but since then things have either not made any sense, or been predictable. By predictable I mean I keep having a recurring dream about having to save our fish's life, not too surprising since I always fall asleep feeling guilty for not having cleaned the tank lately. Hopefully there will be more insight down the road if I stick with it.
