Las Vegas, Nevada
Posted by Patrick on Friday, June 18, 2004While Kate was off touring our great nation's capital (see previous post), myself, Wedding best man Rudy, wedding usher MattMiller, John O and Mike C hit the skies and headed to a little city in Nevada, called Las Vegas for the weekend. Compared to the wooded hills of New England, Vegas is like Mars. It's extremely flat, and a desert. And warm. Warm, because its in a desert, but everything is AC'd so no worries. Traffic lights stay red for like 10 minutes, maybe to encourage you to look around some. And people everywhere. 24 hours a day, the streets are constantly full of people.
Crazy, crazy buildings all around. And, surprise! casinos! It was hard to find a room without a casino in it. In fact, 2 slot machines tried to follow me home on the plane, but security booted them out. I only gambled about 50 bucks, but I can see how the tempation to spend much more is all around. I find the key to making your money last is to play the nickel slots. That's my secret vegas strategy. Use it if you like.
There's so much to do. So much! 3 days was not enough. If you go, bring lots of cash and stay for like a week. It was good to hang with the boys.
