Aphresis 2: Rise of the Machines
Posted by Patrick on Thursday, May 13, 2004Despite the super busy-ness of recent days, I headed over to the Red Cross again and had platelets yanked from my body. Pretty much the same thing as before, and again I have two needle holes in my arms this morning.
Apheresis Theatere was showing Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, staring everyone's favorite Govenator. It's pretty much the same movie as Terminator 2, but with a lady evil robot instead of a guy.
Part of giving the platelets involve sqeezing a rubber ball, which encourages blood flow, which allows the machine (the nurse said they cost 100 grand a piece!) to extract your platelets. I was so engrossed in the movie, that I forgot to sqeeze the ball for a short period of time, and all these alarms on the machine started going off, and nurses rushed over "Squeeze the ball!"
The moral? Don't let Ahnold's portrayal of robots distract you from letting another robot suck platelets from you.
