Winterfest
Posted by Patrick on Sunday, February 08, 2004Yesterday we jumped in the patmobile and headed up to Lowell Massachusetts for some Winterfest action. We met up at Jay and Erin's place, where we were treated to an array of fine fried foods as well as a new batch of Erin's homebrewed brew.
Then we ventured out into the streets of Lowell and arrived at the winterfest. Highlights included a human dog-sled race, which must be like real dogsledding, except there are no dogs, and people serve to power the sleds. Fun to watch for a while. Then we headed over to the Soup Bowl, where a bunch of Lowell resturants served up samples of their best stuff and the public gets to vote on their favorites. Jay and Kate voted for the butternut squash soup, and I supported the black bean soup.
We met up with Erin and a few other folks at the beer tent, which seems to be a big part of Lowell festivals. I tried a couple of local brews, tasty for sure. We scored a couple of pint glasses and a t-shirt, courtesy of the unattentiveness of the Smuttynose Brewery people : )
Here are a few snapshots of the day. Another high quality trip to Lowell.
