Grease-monkey, that funky monkey

Posted by Patrick on Tuesday, November 04, 2003

I was in the middle of trying to fix our router, (which currently works 50% of the time, and stops working when it gets windy, or someone uses the microwave) when the phone rings. "Hello?" Kate's stuck near the office, with some sort of ebreak thing going on. So after a quick brainstorming session with the old man, I hop in the Celi and head on down 146.

Arrive to find the Kate-mobile still in one piece, with the break light on. Kate thinks it's the ebrake stuck, so we kind of play around with that for a while... but to no avail. We didn't want to drive home with the ebrake on, for fear of a grinding of unimagineable crappiness.

So, I bust out the owners manual, cruise through the index, read a bit, and diagnose the problem. Grab some break fluid, fill it up, and we were good to go. I actually opened the hood up, did something, and fixed the car! It's pretty vindicating, especially after my checkered history of auto dis-repair (8 quarts of oil, 1.1 liter of engine.... hmmmm).
