Bill

Last night saw Kill Bill: Volume 1 with Kate at the fabulous Showcase cinemas in North Attleboro. And yes, the Quentin Tarantino hype-train drove me straight there, but it was well worth it. The plot is not revolutionary, a revenge-based action flick, but the combination of the film style and music made it entertaining to watch.

Please do not bring young children, or the elderly to see this movie. There's a whole bunch of blood and dismemberment in the film. Swords are popular! Most of the dismemberment is heavily exagerated, with a Bruce Lee style movie feel to it. I laughed a couple of times quietly, and felt bad about it, because there's just nothing funny about amputation by Samuari assassins.

There is one fight scene in this movie that stands out. It was pretty amazing, and pretty bloody. It reminded me a great deal of the fight scene in The Matrix: Reloaded. So much so, that I made a table comparing the two:

As you can see, they're both high quality fights. I'd have to say that Kill Bill has a better fight scene, if only for it's believeabilty... and that's not saying much with the shear amount of unrealistic-dismemberment. I was just so dis-enchangted in The Matrix fight scene because the characters just looked too computer animated. That was too bad because Agent Smith is about the coolest baddie ever.

Kill Bill: 4 out of 5 stahs.
