Music, and the purchase there of.
Posted by Patrick on Tuesday, June 21, 2005New music! On CD! Purchased from a store! I'm a big fan of the purchasing-music-online thing, as its cheap and quick... but Newbury Comics will sell you the same music with a case and liner notes for the same price, so lately I've been all into the physical disc versus the bits and bytes of the internet. Best of both worlds, and all ends up on the iPod anyway.
With Teeth, by Nine Inch Nails. A long time ago I was all into the Nails... but felt uninterested after the Closer CD. The new CD is pretty good background noise, and may be fair for driving. Sometimes I have trouble believing Trent Reznor's anger.... like maybe he tries really hard to be angry, but secretely rolls around in his millions of $$$ with a crazy grin on his face.
Get Behind Me Satan, by The White Stripes. Kate and I saw the Stripes at Lupos in 2003, and it was a quality show. Their last CD, Elephant, was quality too. I'm not sure how I feel about this CD. Parts are good, others are kind of experimental and difficult to listen to (kind of like Radiohead). This one may take a few listens before I will pass a judgement.![]()
With Honor by the Foo Fighters. I only listened to the first disc of this 2 CD set at work, and was sort of preoccupied with working. I hope it's good... I've been happy with previous Foo music. Their first CD was just great. Solid, quality rock music.
Demon Days by the Gorillaz. This is my favorite of the four CD's listed here in this post. Can't beat those animated monkey things in this band. The Gorillaz aren't really people, I think its some guy from Blur, and DJ Danger Mouse (who made the very cool Grey Album).
The music is tough to describe, but its quality. I'm not a music reviewer, so I don't have the words necessary to describe the CD, but it's good all the way through. Kate likes it, too. Their previous CD was good, but had a few weird tunes on it that kind of interupted the flow of the CD. The band's music videos, which are animated shorts, are good as well. You can see the video for Feel Good Inc. on their website.
