A post, about pants
Posted by Patrick on Monday, April 11, 2005Once upon a time, society's fashion controllers brought cargo pants to the people. They were like regular pants, but with more pockets. Useful pockets. This was the ideal time to bring these utilitarian pants, as things like cell phones and iPods were becoming popular. These pants were wearable in both social and work situations, so they truely were pants for the ages.
Then one day, for whatever reason, those that run all those pants factories overseas said There shall be no more cargo pants. Only the occasional pair of cargo shorts.. It was a sad day for me. I stood around, with a phone in one hand, and an iPod in the other, thinking to myself where am I gonna put this crap?
Time passed, and I clutched my old remaining cargo pants, even as the pockets frayed.
This past weekend, while walking through Target, I saw an old, familiar logo*:
I walked over to the rack, and saw the solution to my stuff-storage woes. Dickies makes cubical-compatible pants with a cell phone pocket sewn into the side! I tried them on, and while they're a little thicker than say, Dockers, they work just fine.
Today at work I put the cell phone in the side pocket, and it stayed there the whole day. It didn't fall out, or shock me, or cause leg cramps. It was nice. The townspeople rejoiced, rung bells, and feasted for days in celebration of khaki pants that had a small pocket for a cell phone.
And yes, they are wrinkle and stain resistant.
This is probably going to be the only post about pants I'll ever write, so I hope you enjoyed it.
*The logo is old and familiar because I had this green Dickies work shirt that i wore almost every day for like a year in high school. Oh yeah, I had the fashion skills then.
