Billboard Politics
Posted by Patrick on Thursday, September 25, 2003I need to take a picture to this, as it's a bit more effective if you can actually see it.... but it's hard to snap a shot while driving. In Worcester, on the way to work, there is a graffiti bandit on the loose, hitting local billboards.
But it's not normal graffitti, it's political in nature. Kind of a mild rebelion going on with spray paint. The old-man part of me thinks "hey, those punk whipper-snappers are vandals!"
But the rest of me thinks that it's kind of cool. There's a McDonalds billboard with a picture of a chicken ceaser salad, and it says "Fresh Chicken, Great Prices." The graffitti artist sprayed "Minimum Wage" on it. Kind of thought provoking, sort of.
Another billboard was for some online site that says "Lost in_______" so it sort of implies that the site would find you directions to somewhere. The same sprayer added words so it says "Bush, Lost in Iraq". Thought provoking there because Doubaya's never been.
There have been other billboards that were kind of like that. Pretty cool stuff... but they usually get taken down pretty quickly. Makes you wonder who it is. Is it some angry hippie, or a jaded war veteren. Maybe a former McDonalds employee. Who knows.
Enough of my ranting
