Settling In

Posted by Kate on Sunday, September 10, 2006

We are finally feeling pretty settled in. Yesterday we got chairs out of storage and a tiny tv and a bunch of other stuff. It feels so much better to be sitting in a chair, let me tell you. I don't think I fully recognized the psychological effect of sitting in an empty room over 700 miles from home. Now that we have chairs and there are old reruns of Friends on tv, I am feeling much more relaxed.

Last night we got Papa John's pizza which is way better down here than it is in New England. It is our new favorite pizza. And we rented Red Eye and watched the ending because we saw the beginning of it at a party and needed to know how it ended. We also watched Elizabethtown, which reminded me of Garden State, but Garden State was much much better.

The cats have stopped growling at each other. And Moses seems to be dealing a little better with his ceiling fan fear. He will now enter the room next to the room with the fan and he just avoids looking at the ceiling, so it works out.

We have cable tv for a week before it gets shut off. We decided not to get it because it is so expensive, but watching Pat flip through the channels this morning is making me reconsider the cost. I wonder if that is why they left it on for a week instead of shutting it right off.

Right now there are a bunch of guys playing hockey in the court behind our apartment. I am totally jealous. I miss field hockey and I always liked playing hockey in gym because it was the one sport that I had more experience at than all the other guys in gym class. I wish I had the guts to go ask all those huge guys if I could play with them. If you know me at all, you know I won't have the guts to do that. Plus I don't have the equipment anyway, I am totally not in shape, and I haven't played in ten years. Oh well, its fun to watch.
