Charge-O-Matic

Posted by Patrick on Monday, January 30, 2006

Yesterday some of my fam and most of Kate's fam came by for some pre-birthday celebrations. Kate and her team of birthday specialists cooked home made pizza and cake, and we played some competitive Cranium.

Surge Amongst the fabulous prizes and gift cards I got, my folks hooked me up with a sweet Surge Protector, replacing some older power strips. The surge protector has some larger side plug areas to hold the larger AC-adapters that usually end up taking up two or three spots on a conventional power strip. I set it up last night, and cut down on all sorts of clutter.

And what do we do with old power strips? We use them! To distribute electricity! The area around our microwave had become a depot for things that required charging. Two ipods, two cell phones, multiple types of battery chargers, a stereo, cordless phone and a microwave shared a single power strip. Lots of clutter, and lots of plugging and unplugging were the result (whoa is me right?).

Charge-O-Matic I decided to get all Norm Abram on the situation and and took two power strips and a breakfast-in-bed tray, and fed most of the cords through the tray handle. I put the hole thing on top of the microwave (versus a jumbled mess on the side of the microwave) and plugged it in. No sparks, and fully charged phones and pods. This is probably the full extent of my home improvement skills.

Oh, we are easily amused.
