Training Day
Posted by Patrick on Thursday, July 05, 2007Part of starting any new job is knowing somewhere between nothing and next-to-nothing about the company's processes and tools. Despite my moderate-to-competent web-designer skill-set, you just can't completely prepare yourself for the nuances of new-jobbyness.
To remedy this, my new employer sent me out to receive training all day today, learning how to use their fancy CMS. Nothing more exciting then getting to a training session, being the only one without a laptop, and having the instructor say "This class is normally taught over four full days, but we're going to speed through it today...and hopefully finish up by 3pm." Sweet!
Suffice to say my brain is sufficiently full, but I can now add another skill to my arsenal of talents-useful-only-at-the-job-I'm-currently-working-at. It's nice that some skills travel with you during your career.
